Had My Follow Up Appointment.

Twelve pounds! Twelve Pounds in six days!?!?!? HOLY COW!! WOOOO HOOOO!!!

So everything looks good. My incisions look fine, glue is holding well, no leaking. Still have some swelling. My lack of burping is normal. And no more eggs until Friday. BUMMER! He just explained the whole liquid diet is important, blah, blah, blah. Good that it went down okay but let's hold off on solider foods for the next few days. Easy for him to say since he's going to go eat a burger and fries for dinner! :)

I'm confused by this silly post-op diet. So two weeks of liquids...that I understand. But liquids includes cream soups which are thicker. Then I move onto two weeks pureed. And the mushies. Okay...isn't pureed and mushy kind of the same thing? I'm trying to think about it like baby food stages. I just don't know if I'm on bottles or rice cereal right now?

  1. i can't help you with pureed vs. mushie because in my mind they are the same thing. my prescribed post-op diet was liquids, then mushies.

it was explained to me that we avoid things like eggs due to the ingestion required. we don't want to have to make our stomachs work --ie. churn -- while it is healing from the tramua of surgery.

try to remember that your only goal for the next 6 weeks is to heal your body.
